Location: Kansas City, MO
Dog: Bella, Rescue Dog
Program: Obedience Training
We adopted Bella from a rescue with no idea about her leash training. She would pull so hard at every dog or person she saw. I thought we’d made a mistake adopting her. But after just four weeks, Bella walks calmly through our neighborhood, and we actually enjoy our walks again. Benny’s approach wasn’t about forcing Bella to heel – it was about teaching her to check in with us and make good choices. We learned proper leash handling techniques, how to redirect her attention before she reacted, and how to reward calm behavior. The transformation was remarkable. Bella went from dragging us down the street to walking politely on a loose leash. She still notices other dogs and people, but now she looks to us for guidance instead of lunging. What impressed us most was how quickly it clicked for her once we learned the right techniques. We went from dreading walks to looking forward to them. For rescue dog owners dealing with leash pulling or reactivity, don’t give up. With the right training approach, even dogs with unknown backgrounds can learn beautiful leash manners.
Benny gave us the confidence and tools we needed to help Bella succeed.
